| Whether you
are experiencing a major depression or just a
bout of the blues, it is possible to restore some
of the fun and enjoyment you used to feel back
to your daily life. Because finding ways to do
that depends on your own preferences, think about
these questions as they may help you start thinking
about what activities will bring fun and enjoyment
into your life.
- What place does fun or enjoyment have in your
life right now? Has this become less important
recently?
- Some people never learned to value enjoyment
in their lives. Have you ever been much good
at having fun? If so, when was that? If not,
what do you think stopped you from having fun?
- Think about some activities you used to enjoy
but have not done much recently:
- Of these activities, which would be the easiest
to reinitiate? Or is there something new that
you would like to try?
- If picking up a new activity or resuming an
old one feels overwhelming, think about how
you could pare this down to something manageable.
For example, perhaps you used to like working
on a hobby for eight hours at a stretch. Could
you do it for ten minutes the first day and
then a little bit longer as time goes on?
